A Very Special Region of England
Back in 1978-79, I lived in Kirkbymoorside for a year.
I stayed with John and Eunice Eccles and was hired as an assistant at Ryedale School.
I loved my stay so much that I truely considered settling down in that very special region of England.
Today, I can still remember the beautiful area, from Whitby and Scarborough to Harrogate… From the sheep to the moors, not to forget the people, I just thoroughly loved this region. Actually, I still have the project of taking my children through that area on our way to Scotland and hope that we will have a chance to do that journey one of these days.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank again (although I did it at the time), every single person who made my stay unforgettable.
They may be suprised to know that my professional career lead me to manage cooking schools, to organize gastronomic tours, to be a food consultant… and, finally, to be a professional training teacher and a personal life coach… my stay in Engand brought my mastery of the English language to a very high level (going down nowadays because I do not use it as much as I used too…) and it made a huge difference in finding jobs.
Thank you also, to all the people who very patiently corrected me and taught me how to speak and write properly… with a slight Yorkshire accent which I still have on some words !
A Very Special Region of England.
