Originally called the Literary Institute it was built by public subscription in 1790 and given a porch in 1851. During the last war it was used as the Food Office and as a Home Guard post. It was stocked as a public library in the 1950’s.

Title The Grange (former Vicarage), Church Street.
Description Built in 1859 and replaced in 1970 by a modern vicarage situated in its former orchard. It is now private accommodation. An assembly of Anglo Saxon sculpture and a 13th century carved coffin lid once displayed in the porch is now in The Folk Museum at Hutton le Hole.
