Having previously been a saddler's, a rope-makers and a fruit shop amongst other trades, the premises had been empty until Diane and Roy Humble bought the property in October 1980.

Following the birth of their daughter, Sarah, in December 1983, Diane decided to open ‘The Nursery’ in March 1985 selling baby equipment and clothes. As the property also has a large garden, fresh tomatoes, fruit and flowers were also sold when in season. Eventually a decision was made to stop selling baby clothes and move into a different part of this market.

'The Nursery’ now sells baby equipment such as cots, high chairs and buggies, as well as offering a hire service, at reasonable rates. This is particularly useful for visiting friends, relatives and guests, or for those staying in the many holiday cottages in the area. Car seats are, however, not available for hire.

Diane also sells flowers, fruit and vegetables, and all types of floristry equipment such as ‘Oasis’ are available. Flower arrangements and floral displays from £10.00 can be made by Diane, either for collection or local delivery (although a delivery fee may be charged).
